چکیده

Gas diffusion can be used to quantify soil quality and structural development that is strongly affected by use management practices. There a lack of information about the quantitative effect tillage combined with crop sequences on structure. This study aimed effects bulk density, gas diffusivity, air-filled porosity, resulting pore continuity their dynamic during cropping cycle. A total 288 undisturbed samples were collected over two growing periods (2018–19 2019–20) long-term field experiment (~25 years old) in Agramunt, NE Spain. Three factors investigated observe influence above-mentioned soil’s physical characteristics: systems (intensive tillage, IT no-tillage, NT), (short fallow-maize, FM; legume-maize, LM) positions (within row crops, W-row; between rows B-row). Soil diffusivity was measured at five different water matric potentials (SWMP) (?10, ?50, ?100, ?333 ?1000 cm H2O). LM sequence showed greater macroporosity as well enhanced continuity, than FM, especially W-row. No significant differences observed for NT though had lower porosity (> 30 µm) compared IT. under particularly among macropores less blocked pores higher SWMP (?10 H2O) but no difference (?1000 regardless position. Air-filled changes maize planting harvesting NT. During legume seasons, comparable values In transport favorably alleviating negative intensive degradation. Long-term also improved structure indicated macropores, despite decrease macroporosity, did not significantly diffusivity.

Impacts of different tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yield under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions

Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...

Crop rotation and tillage effects on selected soil physical properties of a Typic Haploxerert in an irrigated semi-arid Mediterranean region

Physical, chemical and biological attributes of soil surface are significantly affected by tillage practices and crop rotation. The objective of this study was to determine the short-term (2006-2009) effects of conventional and conservational tillage practices on selected soil physical properties of a heavy clay soil under two wheat-corn and wheatlegume rotation in a semi-arid Mediterranean...

Tillage and drainage management effect on soil gas diffusivity

Subsurface drainage influences the gaseous exchange in soils and improves crop productivity. Thus, gas diffusivity were monitored on a long-term drainage/tillage experiment established in 1994 at the Waterman Farm of The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA. Specific objectives of the present study were to compare the gas diffusion and physical properties (bulk density and water retention) ...

Soil Microbial Substrate Properties and Microbial Community Responses under Irrigated Organic and Reduced-Tillage Crop and Forage Production Systems

Changes in soil microbiotic properties such as microbial biomass and community structure in response to alternative management systems are driven by microbial substrate quality and substrate utilization. We evaluated irrigated crop and forage production in two separate four-year experiments for differences in microbial substrate quality, microbial biomass and community structure, and microbial ...
